Our history began in the Sixties , a period of strong expansion  for Italian economy.  At the beginning of its activity Coifer was a  small owner-operated company based in Genoa, “The Coibente” operated  from the harbour facilities as,  at that time, its main business was naval plant engineering. Subsequently, due to the decrease of the shipbuilding industry in Genoa, the company moved in the Seventies to the new naval industrial development centre in Monfalcone.  Their arrival in the city of Caravaggio coincided with an important job order  from “Balzareti e Modigliani” company.

Mr Pietro Ferrari founded and managed the firm during its first two decades. His son Mr. Alberto Ferrari was able to learn on the job the necessary skills which would have allowed him to expand his working techniques and later set up the Coifer.

After a period working in his father’s company, Mr. Ferrari worked for more than seven years in oil-producing countries (Algeria, Nigeria, Kuwait).

During this experience abroad Mr. Ferrari further strengthened his technique and background related to the peculiar knowledge of the oil sector: ground and underground pipeline, cracking towers and all systems concerning oil, in a very complex working environment due to the temperature and the product itself. 

From this experience Mr. Alberto Ferrari decided to found COIFER, a sole proprietorship working as subcontractor  and making several labour intensive orders in different  installations: plant engineerig, cold store and cold piping thermic insulation, together with storage tank, distillation towers, furnaces and pipelines.

 During the Eighties Coifer became a limited company and it started to become involved in increasingly larger commisssions, working directly with the end-customers.  Since that moment Coifer Ltd became not just a mere executor but it was able to extend its services from the initial stages to the final ones: planning, purchasing of materials, installation and final inspection.

It is during the  Nineties that the oenological and food industry started their expansion. Coifer Ltd. sensed their potential very quickly and today this business represents nearly eighty percent of our turnover.

Most of our business is made in Italy but thanks to our know-how and competence we were able to acquire an important contract with the Irish Bulmers for the insulation of many tanks in one of their processing plant in Ireland.   

This long-lasting commitment was a great test and gave us the opportunity to show our organization and ability within an international environment.

Regarding future development we are sure to provide our skills focusing in the insulation of  oil tanks for bio-fuel production, tanks and piping for bio-gas, geothermal plants and renewable energy in general.
